New Lok Sabha Session Inaugurated

The new Lok Sabha session kicked off with B Mahtab taking the oath as both a member of the House and the pro-tem speaker at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Reflecting on the Emergency

PM Modi took the opportunity to remind the nation of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Emergency on June 25, describing it as a “dark chapter” in India’s democratic history when the Constitution was severely undermined and democratic rights were curtailed.

Emphasizing Consensus

Reflecting on the past decade, PM Modi highlighted his government’s dedication to building consensus and making collective decisions. He noted that while a majority is necessary to govern, running the country requires broad agreement and cooperation.

“In the last 10 years, we have always tried to implement a tradition because we believe that a majority is required to run the government but to run the country a consensus is of utmost importance. So, it will be our constant efforts to serve Maa Bharti and fulfill the aspirations and ambitions of the 140 crore people, with everyone’s consent and by taking everyone together. We want to go ahead and speed up decisions by taking everyone together, by maintaining the sanctity of the Constitution,” he added.

PM Modi’s address is a clear message to the opposition, urging them to focus on impactful actions rather than mere theatrics, and to collaborate for the nation’s progress. His remarks also serve as a reminder of the importance of learning from the past, particularly the Emergency, to ensure such a period never recurs in India’s democratic history.
