Actor Nivin Pauly Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations: ‘I Will Fight to Prove My Innocence’

On September 3, popular Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly was named as the sixth accused in a sexual assault complaint filed by a woman. This shocking news has drawn significant attention, with many in the film industry and public expressing concern. In response to these accusations, Nivin Pauly held a press conference the same day, where he denied the allegations and labeled them as a conspiracy to defame him.

Nivin Pauly Denies Allegations

During the press conference, Nivin Pauly strongly denied the charges against him. He stated that he does not know the woman who filed the complaint and insisted that the allegations were entirely false. Nivin expressed his determination to fight the case legally and clear his name. He stressed that these accusations are an attempt to ruin his reputation and vowed to go to any lengths to prove his innocence.

Nivin Pauly

Nivin said, “An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against me. I will fight it legally. I am willing to go to any lengths to prove my innocence as such fake allegations can be made against anyone. I am speaking for all of them. If I don’t, such incidents will continue to happen.”

Previous Encounter with the Police

Nivin Pauly also revealed that this was not the first time he had heard about the complaint. He shared that about one and a half months ago, a police officer had contacted him regarding a similar complaint filed by the same woman. The officer read the FIR to him over the phone, and Nivin explained that he did not know the woman. At that time, the police considered it a fake case. Nivin even asked the officer if he should file a counter-complaint, but the officer advised him not to waste his time. Nivin has yet to read the new FIR.

Alleged Incident in Dubai

The incident mentioned in the complaint is alleged to have taken place in Dubai in November 2023. Nivin clarified that he was in Dubai at that time and met a film producer at a mall. The producer introduced him to another man, who is also named in the FIR. This man was supposed to provide half the funds for a film project. Nivin speculated that the woman might have been present during that meeting, possibly trying to audition for a role. However, he has no recollection of meeting her or taking a selfie with her, as many fans do.

Charges Filed Against Six People

The case against Nivin Pauly and five other individuals is registered in Ernakulam, Kerala. The first accused in the complaint is a woman named Sreya, followed by AK Sunil, a producer, Binu, Basheer, Kuttan, and Nivin Pauly, who is the sixth accused. These charges have sent shockwaves through the Malayalam film industry, with many questioning the veracity of the accusations.

Impact of the Hema Committee Report

The sexual assault allegations against Nivin Pauly come at a time when the Malayalam film industry is already under scrutiny. The recent release of the Hema Committee report on August 19 has exposed widespread sexual harassment, casting couch practices, and lobbying within the industry. This report has led to a wave of revelations, with many women coming forward to share their experiences of sexual misconduct by well-known actors and filmmakers.

Actors like Jayasurya, Siddique, Baburaj, Idavela Babu, and directors Ranjith and Thulasidas are among those facing harassment charges. The allegations against Nivin Pauly have further intensified the ongoing discussion about the dark side of the Malayalam film industry.

As the case unfolds, Nivin Pauly continues to maintain his innocence and calls the accusations against him a conspiracy. The legal battle ahead will determine the outcome, but the allegations have already left a significant mark on his reputation. The Malayalam film industry, meanwhile, continues to grapple with the revelations of widespread misconduct, as more voices speak out in the wake of the Hema Committee report.
